Second Street Pantry News
It has been a busy summer here at Second Street Pantry and the data continues to show steady increases. Last year January through July we served an average of 273 households each month with an average of 1000 members in those households. This year to date in the same timeframe we have served an average of 370 households each month with an average of 1403 members in those households. These numbers represent a 36% and 40% increase YoY respectively.
We have served people from cities as far away as Joplin, MO (52 miles), Tahlequah, OK (49 miles) and Green Forest, AR (49 miles), however the majority of our clients (over 65%) are located within Bentonville and Rogers areas.
Your continued support is vital to providing for these families and makes a real difference in the lives of those we serve. The words directly from one neighbor’s thank you letter below best articulates the impact of our ministry that is not captured in numbers or data.
“Last Tuesday was the first time I came across your food “donation station.” I want to thank you for the healthy and appetizing food. It not only took care of a financial need, but made my daughter and I feel special and loved to be given fresh potatoes, meat, milk, and organic grapes!!

ReThink Food and The Hive partnership
offers up box lunches at the pantry
In mid-July, we entered into a pilot program with a non-profit organization named ReThink Food out of New York.
Rethink Food is funding The Hive Restaurant (located in 21C Museum Hotel in downtown Bentonville)
to make up to 100 nutritious meals each week. We pick up the packed lunches at The Hive
and give out as a part of our Tuesday food distribution. This pilot will run for 8 weeks with Rethink Food
using the data we provide from distribution of these meals toward their overall goal of a tax credit program,
which would enable them to expand this type of program to additional rural locations.
Thank you to board member, Scott Caldwell and The Hive chef, Micah Klasky, for working to make this partnership happen.
Pack Shack 500K for NWA

Involvement
In November we will be a part of the Pack Shack 500k for NWA Event. This event is held annually with opportunities to pay to join the packing event, make donation and other options to get involved. After the event, our very own Pantry has been selected as one of the 12 non-profit organizations in our area to receive the packed food.
Get involved and grab your family, friends, neighbors, and coworkers to join 1,500 frlends at the 500k for NWA Feed the Funnel Experience to pack 500,000 MEALS for neighbors in Northwest Arkansas who are facing food insecurity. YARD SALE on September 6th!!
| We are once again embarking on Rummage Sale with proceeds to purchase Thanksgiving and Christmas meals for our clients. Start gathering your goodies now and price them if you are able! You can drop off your items in at the church in Hines Hall beginning on Wednesday, September 3rd through the event date on September 6th. **Please no adult clothing this year. |
