Second Street Pantry News
Spring 2025
A special thank you to all of our volunteers who tirelessly supported our pantry in 2024. As we start a new year we remain blessed that we are able to help our neighbors on a weekly basis. We have many teams of volunteers that make our goal to serve as many as we can with kindness and compassion. If you haven’t volunteered in a while, but would like to start again or are wondering how you might get involved, contact us and we will find you a place to serve.

Holidays at Second Street Pantry
A HUGE thank you to First United Methodist Church Bentonville for donations to our rummage sale and for all the donated thanksgiving bags! Thanks also to all the amazing volunteers who came out to make the holidays special for our guests. We couldn't do this without you!

Free Books
Thank you to Bentonville Public Library for teaming up to give out free books to all our visitors.

Holiday Numbers
At our Thanksgiving and Christmas distribution combined, we served a total of 462 families, giving out 162 turkeys and 808 bags of food!

Greeters
Holiday helpers Molly Degen and Carie O'Banion check in guests.
Community Involvement
Lincoln Jr. High teacher, Sophie Bodishbaugh, is doing amazing work teaching her students how to be community leaders. Her students reached out to their school community to collect and donate 20,000 items as well as a large check to the pantry. Ms. Bodishbaugh and Assistant Principal, Kim Fernandez, presented a check to Board President, Lisa Martens at the December volunteer meeting. THANK YOU!!
Is your organization, group, or business interested in teaming up with us for a special event or donation?

Our Team
2025 Board Changes
Betsy Batey served on the SSPM board since its inception as a nonprofit in 2017 and had to retire her position in compliance with bylaws. Even though her term has expired on the board, she is still a huge part in running the pantry including being our 3rd shift leader.
Kerrith Starnes, former Vice President and current 2nd shift leader, and Stephanie Musselwhite also had terms expiring on December 31st.
Lisa Martens served as President for several years and we are so grateful for her leadership. She has stepped down as President but remains on the executive board.
Thanks to you all for your service on the board and welcome to our new member
